Why Would I Get an Ultrasound?

A late period and a positive pregnancy test are not enough to confirm your pregnancy. We suggest getting a limited obstetric ultrasound

You need to confirm if your pregnancy is developing or if you have had a miscarriage. Experts estimate as many as 26% of all pregnancies end in a miscarriage. Most miscarriages occur within the first 12 weeks.

Not only does an ultrasound determine if your pregnancy is growing, but it also indicates how many weeks you have been pregnant. The FDA approves the use of the drugs in the abortion pill method only through 10 weeks of pregnancy.

Plus, ultrasound detects the location of your pregnancy. Although rare, some pregnancies form outside the uterus. These are known as ectopic pregnancies and are extremely dangerous.

Reach Out Pregnancy Center offers no-cost pregnancy testing. If your test is positive, you may qualify for a limited obstetric ultrasound at no cost.

How Will I Know What to Do?

Once you have confirmed your pregnancy, we encourage you to consider all your options. You have three: have an abortion, make an adoption plan, or choose to parent.

If you’re not ready to have an abortion, you should look at your other options. Making an adoption plan for your child is a difficult decision, but if you are not prepared to parent, adoption could be the best answer.

There are several benefits to choosing adoption. As the expectant mother, you select the adoptive parents who raise your child. You can also determine the amount of communication you would like to have with them as your child grows.

By working with a reputable, licensed adoption agency, you will receive adoption counseling, coverage of your medical and legal expenses, and other pregnancy-related costs, if needed. We can provide referrals to a trusted adoption agency.

If you feel ready to parent but aren’t sure where to begin, we can also help you. We provide prenatal, parenting, and life skills classes at no cost. The Reach Out team also offers referrals for community services

Just because your pregnancy was unexpected doesn’t mean it’s impossible.
